Server and Telecom Power Component Sourcing with SZIME
SZIME supports semiconductor procurement for server and telecom power equipment, bringing conversion stages, power distribution and point-of-load requirements into one sourcing discussion.
Published · Updated

Server and telecom equipment can contain several power stages with different purchasing requirements. The input converter, distribution circuitry and processor supply should each retain their own device specifications and build priorities. SZIME Electronics supports component sourcing for power module and equipment developers, connecting approved parts and open sourcing questions with the project stage your team is preparing to deliver.
Define the power stage behind the enquiry
Identify whether the requirement belongs to an AC input supply, a DC bus converter, distribution protection or a local load supply. State the voltage range and its reference, the expected load and the cooling arrangement. This prevents a broad description such as telecom power from hiding an important electrical distinction.
Include the system diagram or relevant section of the BOM when available. A purchasing list can group devices by stage while retaining the hardware revision used by engineering. SZIME can then discuss the sourcing scope for the actual circuit rather than compare parts across unrelated positions in the equipment. Mark any components shared with a previous platform and those being introduced for the first time.
Coordinate controllers and power devices
The selected controller, driver and power switch operate as part of a circuit. Their control requirements and protection functions need to fit the conversion topology. A device change should therefore be reviewed with the surrounding design, particularly when it affects switching behavior, sensing or the interface between controller and power stage.
Keep complete ordering codes and package options in the enquiry. For devices still under evaluation, identify the intended alternatives and the decision owner. Purchasing can then distinguish a released component requirement from an engineering candidate, keeping the commercial discussion aligned with the configuration planned for the next prototype or equipment build.

Treat processor power as a separate requirement
Processor, FPGA and ASIC core supplies may use multiphase regulators to support their power delivery needs. TI's published multiphase guidance addresses these applications. Relevant project questions include the selected controller interface, power stages and the transient conditions under which the engineering team will evaluate the complete supply.
For sourcing, preserve the approved pairing of controller and power stages, together with any configuration dependencies. A similar current rating does not establish equivalence. Share the released parts list and identify which changes are acceptable for review, so any sourcing option can return to engineering with a clearly defined purpose.
Include monitoring and distribution devices
Power distribution may involve hot swap control, protection and monitoring as well as conversion. If the equipment uses digital telemetry, describe the required interface and the information the management system expects. These supporting functions can affect the selected parts and the way a revised board is integrated into the system.
Add the relevant sensing, auxiliary power and interface components to the project enquiry. When several power modules share supporting devices, note which parts are common and which depend on the module rating. This allows purchasing to consider the combined requirement without merging different electrical options into one unrestricted part request.
Plan purchasing around qualified configurations
SZIME handles TI, Infineon, ST, onsemi and other international brands through independent distribution, alongside its CR Microelectronics authorized business. Tell us which channel and documentation requirements apply to each requested brand. The offered supply conditions can then be reviewed against the purchasing rules of your equipment project.
For an existing design, identify the approved hardware revision and next build milestone. For a new platform, explain which power stages have completed evaluation and which remain open. Quantities, packaging and delivery arrangements should be agreed for the specific requirement, allowing subsequent orders to follow the configurations that engineering has actually accepted.
Discuss your server or telecom power project
You can start with one unresolved power stage, a partial component list or the purchasing plan for a module family. Describe the equipment application and the next decision your team needs to make. Early discussions are welcome before every component, quantity or commercial detail has been finalized.
